Premier league log leaders Township Rollers will face arch rivals Mochudi Centre Chiefs in the Mascom Top 8 semi-finals after a draw on Tuesday. Army side BDF XI take on Orapa United in another semi-final. The winner of the cup will take home a mouth-watering P1.2m. Prior the draw all the teams wanted to play Rollers. The reason being Rollers have been terrorising them and they all want revenge now. Centre Chiefs spokesperson Clifford Mogomotsi said after the draw that it is an interesting one and on paper it looks difficult for them.
However, Mogomotsi hastened to say a game is not won on paper. He said in reality this is the fixture they wanted. “We do not want to go to the final without being tested. Rollers are a good side and they can provide this test for us,” he said. According to him, Chiefs are in a mission to win this tournament for the first time ever. Mogomotsi said his team is currently busy in the market to beef up its squad. “The board just met and agreed that the team has to be beefed up,” he added. Rollers, on the other hand, are ready for Chiefs with Bafana Pheto saying they welcome the draw.
Pheto said the team is currently in a good shape and will reach the finals. He said they will fight like a wounded buffalo as they have lost in the finals in two consecutive years. “This year we will be fighting very hard to win this trophy as it eluded us for some time,” he said. BDF XI spokesman, Thusang Jacob, is also excited with their fixture against Orapa United, saying they were expecting any team. “This is a winnable game for us since we have won against Orapa before,” said Jacob. However, Orapa United can be a very difficult team to beat and its current position in the log speaks volumes, even BDF XI know this.
The date and venues for the games is yet to be confirmed.
