Township Rollers are yet to get their league trophy and medals and are running out of patience for waiting. Rollers Team Manager Motshegetsi Mafa said that the fact that they have been quiet about it does not mean they do not want the cup and the medals. He said that they do not want to make any more noise but rather to focus on the league games and have a fresh season other than the tumultuous one that they had last time.
Rollers captain Maano Ditshupo said they wish to one day lay their hands on the medals. “How can they say we are champions when we do not have anything to show for it, my players need those medals in their closets, and even those who were with the team last season need something to show even at their new homes that indeed they were the champions,” he said. Ditshupo said with CAF games approaching they want to have something that will indeed assure them as they represent the country in the competitions. He reiterated that his players have been through so much and they deserve something that can indeed cheer them up and help them fight in this new season without having to deal with anything that happened in the past season. “We want to close this chapter and focus on this new race that we are running,” he said.
Rollers had to play a replay after a protracted season where one of their players Ofentse Nato was declared a defaulter which resulted with them losing points and forced to play Mochudi Centre Chiefs to determine the league title winner. At some point Chiefs were crowned champions and given the medals and the cup. Attempts to get a comment from the BFA failed.
