Lady Khama Charitable Trust revealed that Botswana’s top athletes in Amantle Montsho and Dakar Rally’s first Motswana Vincent Crosbie will feature in their annual fundraising marathon on April 9. Lady Khama Charitable Trust Secretary Marcus Ter Haar said the marathon is just one of their many annual fundraising events which will be followed by Ghanzi Horse Endurance Relay and the Super Sprint Triathlon in December. He said the beneficiaries for this year activities are Bana Ba Metsi, Childline, Flying Machine, ECD Teacher Training Programme, Little Friends Day Care Centre and SOS Children’s Village. He said since their inception in 2002 the Trust has benefited over 40 organisations in Botswana and disbursed over P13 million. “We support a core group of organisations annually that have been selected due to their historic connection with Lady Ruth Khama and their continued good work in their respective areas of focus,” he said. Ter Haar said women and children are those that they are devoted to mostly because as a woman that was what Ruth was passionate about. He said the Lady K Run21 has proven to be one of the fastest growing fundraisers in terms of runners and spectator participation. “After a call for partners in 2016 we are pleased to announce O3 as our new lead partner who joins the Run21 as the lead partner. They make financial provisions for operational costs which eases the burden of sourcing for funds to host the event,” he said. The run will start at 530am and there will also be the wellness arena and the kids’ area. The registration fee for the half marathon is P200; 10km is P150 while the 5km fun race is only P50.
