Rollers extend lead

By thrashing of Green Lovers 6-2 on Tuesday night, Township Rollers extended their lead at the top of the log by 2 points. The win betters Rollers’ chances of winning the BTC Premiership ahead of second placed Jwaneng Galaxy. Rollers are now at the top of the table with 60 points while Galaxy have 58 points. Galaxy – the only team still in clear contest for the championship – lost two crucial points after being held to a zero-all draw by Orapa United at Itekeng Stadium. The draw dented their chances of winning a double this season. With two games to play Galaxy and Rollers still have to take on each other in the last game of the season which many say will be the title decider. But a loss by Galaxy to Gaborone United while Rollers win against Black Forest will mean Rollers are champions. As it is the title is still Rollers’ to lose as they are currently leading. All the team needs to do is win all the remaining games and they will be champions. Green Lovers’ loss meant that they were now relegated to the lower division. Lovers join Mahalapye United Hotspurs in relegation while it still remains to be seen which team between Nico United and Miscellaneous will be joining the duo.
