With only 30 days left to the start of the Netball World Youth Cup, it is all systems go for the Local Organising Committee (LOC). Addressing the media on their preparedness for the tournament on Tuesday night, Tebogo Kesupile – the Games General Manager – said everything is in place and final preparations are going on very well. Kesupile said despite challenges of finances the committee has been able to work round the clock to put everything in place for the games. Head of Operations Neo Gwafila-Bulayani said they are only waiting for the whistle to blow for the first match. Gwafila-Bulayani said they have trained all the personnel needed for the games and are ready. She said they have followed the International Netball Federation (INF) manual which guided them on the preparations of the games. Head of Communication and Protocol for the Netball World Youth Cup Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego also supported her colleagues about the preparations, saying they want the games to leave a legacy for Botswana. Lebotse-Sebego said to hype up the games they will be hold the Trophy Tour across the country to get Batswana on board. The Trophy Tour is expected to start for 21-30 June 2017. Lebotse-Sebego urged Batswana to buy tickets for the games in large numbers to support the team. She said tickets are already on sale at different selected stores as well as at Computicket. The tickets are sold for P30 per day. Some of the media personnel questioned the price, saying it is too low for a World Cup event. They advanced reasons that the local organising committee should make some money out of the tickets that will go to the improvement of local netball. They argued that for visiting countries P30 is just way too little money and it will not help the local netball. The Netball World Youth Cup local organising committee had called the media to discuss how best way the two parties could work together to make sure the games are a success.
