Following the appointment of a new coach, Township Rollers management is optimistic that the team will do well to defend its BTC Premiership title and fight for other titles. Rollers management this week announced the appointment of Serbian gaffer Nikola Kavazovic to take up the Rollers head coach position following the departure of Mark Harrison. The Serbian has signed a two-year contract with the defending champions. Rollers president Jagdish Shah said they aim to keep winning as much silverware as possible. Shah said the new coach’s mandate is as clear as that – to win silverware for the club. He did not want to get to the details but declared that they aim to win the BTC Premiership cup for the third time in a row. The arrival of Kavazovic at Rollers has bolstered an already strong technical team that include Mogomotsi Mpote as assistant coach and Thabo Motang as goalkeeper coach. The two led Rollers to victory in the previous season as interim Coach and assistant respectively. Shah said Rollers now has a very strong technical team capable of delivering good results. Kavazovic has been united with fellow Serbian Dragojlo Stanojlovic who is now Rollers’ Technical Assistant and Head of Youth Development. “Kavazovic is a very experienced and professional coach we therefore have confidence and trust in him to deliver good results. We have so far the strongest technical team and we are optimistic that they will win games for us,” said Shah. He said they aim to do well in all the competitions that they will be taking part in. While Rollers have not been doing well in the Mascom Top 8 competition in recent years, Shah says with the strong technical team they now have to change that. Preparations for the coming 2017/18 season are going on well with a very good pre-season schedule. The team is currently in South Africa where they competed in the Maize Cup against Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs. On the 22nd July 2017 the two teams will be play a friendly match at the Francistown Stadium.
