Bajanala Social Club - formed in the 1980’s and based at the Jwaneng Galaxy Club - has secured sponsorship for the annual charity soccer tournament and will officially launch it on October 14 in Jwaneng. Their sponsor for this year will be from Paramount Tracks. “The main objective is to give back to the underprivileged members of our communities through Social Soccer. We at Bajanala are of the view that Sunday Soccer players also have the responsibility to give back to our communities and position Sunday Soccer as one vehicle of helping the government in her endeavor of eradicating poverty in the country. Our partnership with Paramount Tracks include but not limited to the following; partnering with the Department of Social Services in identifying Social Orphans and underprivileged communities within Jwaneng-Mabutsane region in order to donate educational needs to school going pupils, blankets, food humpers and other socio-economic needs, Sponsorship of Soccer Kit and The Annual Charity Soccer Tournament,” said the club’s spokesperson Archibald Ngakayagae in a statement.
The Club is made up of men mostly residing and working in Jwaneng. Bajanala’s main objectives are among others to encourage good health among its members by engaging in football games and other physical activities; To promote social interaction among members, their families, other social clubs in Botswana and Southern Africa, through fun-filled travel; To encourage the spirit of voluntarism and charity among the members by engaging on Community/Social Responsibility Programmes, for example, hosting Charity Social Tournaments and donating to the unprivileged members of our society. The Department of Social Services has identified Social Orphans from Lefhoko or nearby villages to receive donations during the tournaments which is scheduled for the 14th October 2017. Bajanala will also unveil a new Kit sponsored by the Paramount Tracks Kit and donate old football kit to a Social Club from a nearby village. Tebelopele Testing Centre and the Department of Health have been invited to set some stalls for HIV/AIDS Counselling, Testing and Safe Male Circumcision. Participation teams during the 2017 tournament are; the host Bajanala (Jwaneng), Friends Social Football Club from Gaborone, Dikakapa Social Football Club from Lobatse and Babatona Social Football Club from Tsabong.
