Botswana National Olympics Committee (BNOC) affiliates have called for expediting of talks between BNOC and Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) on streamlining and aligning of the two’s priorities. For a long time there has been an outcry that the two bodies duplicate tasks which hinders progressive sport development in the country. The affiliates – during the BNOC Quadrennial General Assembly last weekend – passed a resolution calling for a tripartite meeting between BNSC, BNOC and themselves to force for the issue to be addressed. When addressing the affiliates before stepping down as BNOC president, Negros Kgosietsile said efforts have been made and are on-going to try and streamline and align priorities with BNSC. Kgosietsile said a number of meetings have been held to this effect with BNSC and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development. The affiliates, however, feel that the issue has been dragging for too long without any visible progress; hence they are calling for a tripartite meeting. Kgosietsile also agreed that the issue has taken too long and welcomed the resolution by the affiliates. “I agree this has been dragging on for long and the time has come to get to the bottom of it. I believe the tripartite meeting will bear some fruits,” he said. He however, called on the affiliates to speak out on both forums as they affiliates of both bodies. He said he observed that most of the time affiliates are less engaging on the issue during BNSC meetings. It is believed that with Colonel Botsang Tshenyego elected new BNOC president there will be some sort of continuity at BNOC.
