Botswana will host the Confederation of University and Colleges Sports Associations (CUCSA) Games in Gaborone from June 16th to 24th. Some 2500 athletes will take part in the games themed – #OneNessThroughSport.
Botswana has gone in with full force to prepare for this 19th edition of the games.
CUCSA President Ben Naobeb expressed his confidence about Botswana’s capability of hosting world class games because of the facilities it has. He hailed the University of Botswana Indoor Sports Complex as one of the best facilities to be found in a university. Members of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) are from a diverse group of people with Thapelo Pabalinga as chairperson. Members include the likes of Diphetogo Selolwane, Zenzele Hirschfield, Ivy Balopi and Treasure Mothobi. The team has embarked on activation events in order to draw many people to the games. It is the third time that Botswana is hosting the games in their history.
Botswana Tertiary Student Sport Association (BOTESSA) President Herbert Letsebe emphasized that all preparations going well, and as such they are confident of delivering successful games. Ten countries – Botswana, Angola. Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia. Zambia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Mozambique - will all participate in different sporting codes such as chess, karate, basketball, netball, table tennis and swimming.
