Veteran striker Joel Mogorosi is defying age by continuing to bang in the goals even when some would be taking he should be considering hanging up the boots.

The Township Rollers goal machine stands tall at the top of the BTC Premier League with nine goals from 12 games.

Coming close to him are two other veterans in Bonolo Fraser of Police XI and Kenanao Kgetholetsile of Extension Gunners. The youthful strikers are the league simply have to look at the trio and adjust their goal targeting.

Fraiser has six goals while Kgetholetsile has scored five times tied with Sharp Shooting Stars youngster Tshepho Malgas.

It will be interesting to see how the veterans will keep up to the rest of the season and whether they stand the test of time to ultimately win the league’s top goal scorer award.

The goal scoring form of the three strikers has placed their respective teams in good respectable positions with Rollers at the top of the summit.

Mogorosi has been enjoying increased game time this season under the departed coach Nikola Kavazovic and he is still the first choice under the interim management of Thabo Motang and Leutlwetse Tshireletso.

The former premier league golden boot winner Fraiser is regaining his confidence with Police X1 under tutelage of Mike Sithole and has even received a national team call up for the AFCON qualifiers with the Zebras.

Kgetholetsile, the all-time regular in Gunners attack, seems to be more confident, having regained his scoring form this season.  He became the first to score a hatrick in the new campaign against Centre Chiefs in the league opener.

Local football analysts say the trio’s huge experience both at club and national level is what contributes to their good run and are not under pressure to contend for the top scorer award as they are keen on helping the teams to attain good results.

Jimmy George told Patriot Sport that experience was showing in Mogorosi, Kgetholetsile and Fraiser performance.

“It will be exciting if one these three experienced strikers can come out winners of the top goal scorer this season and they are still playing well despite their age.  We are going to see a great exciting season,” he said.
