Christopher Nyanga, Publicity Secretary – Makwala Challenge Cup said the Makwala Challenge Cup executive committee is currently involved in talks with some big corporates in this country for purposes of sponsoring the one-day tournament. Details will be released once the talks have been finalized. "We therefore, invite all residents of Tutume and surrounding villages to come in large numbers to this one day event that only happens once in a year," said Nyanga.

The organizing committee of the annual Isaac Makwala Challenge Cup in Tutume is happy to announce that the Tjinyuni babili tournament in Magapatona ward will host the third edition of the Makwala Challenge Cup in Tutume on 30 December. The Makwala Challenge Cup, whose patron is Isaac Makwala, came about because of the extra ordinary performance of Isaac Makwala at the 2017 World Athletes competitions in which Isaac Makwala made our country proud by running alone and winning despite the negative treatment he was given.

Residents of Tutume involved with festive tournaments then decided to honour Isaac Makwala by designating 30 December of every year as a Makwala day in Tutume in which all football tournaments converge in one area and play against each other. The tournaments participating in this event are Goledzwa Football tournament, Tjinyuni babili Football tournament, Tjivulamagwe Football tournament and Tjilagwane Football tournament. The proceeds of the Makwala day are then shared on a 30% and 70% basis between Isaac Makwala and some chosen charity work, where Isaac Makwala is given 30% of proceeds while 70% is used for some chosen charity.

The Makwala Challenge has already made a mark in Tutume since its establishment three years ago. The Makwala Challenge Cup has already made donations of sport equipment to all the 6 primary schools and the 2 junior secondary schools in Tutume. The community including the village leadership being dikgosi, MP and councilors have been very appreciative of the contribution of the Isaac Makwala challenge to the village of Tutume where Isaac Makwala was born and raised.
