Honestly it is a beautiful thing. Art is art and fashion is fashion, but there are certain moments and eras where the two stop moving parallel, more circular as it becomes whole.
We can take example of The Met Gala. The costume institute gala is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the metropolitan museum of Arts costume institute in New York City. Fashion designers from all over the world have a table for the dinner event and the designers invite celebrity of their choice and the invited celebrity wears the garment of the designer. Each year there is a then and this theme was “Heavenly bodies: The catholic Imagination.” And happened on May 7th.
It was a very controversial theme, but The Vatican had given approval of the theme. Again this is the example where art and fashion start moving circular and agreeing with one another. This creates a marvellous thing as life really does imitate art. There were a lot of amazing looks and good surprises but also many kept it quite simple for the sake of their brand and image.
We see ourselves at the upmost self- expression. We pay attention because of the beauty of it all. Doing bigger and better each year. You practice your language of your imagination and you meet with artists and designers to make it reality. It is beautiful because we deduce something abstract (imagination) and use resources to recreate into physical-visual existence. Is that not amazing?
Furthermore it creates a great opportunity for other sibling sector to fashion like beauty, jewellery and shoes. This also helps to collaborate with these brands. It all works in favour for most. You see? Circular. Then it creates one whole event for our eyes to spectate and create opinion. This inspires the viewers to express themselves through their own opinion and conversations. If that’s not art, then I don’t know what is.
Concepts and themes add richness to everyone’s perspective whilst having one conversation at once. Beautiful way of orchestration- The encounter of fashion and art as one.
