Gaborone United are celebrating their 50 years of existence this year.  Formed on the 26th August 1967, GU will celebrate its Golden Jubilee from this month until August 2018. The has lined up a series of activities for the next 12 months. Kick-starting the celebrations from October 2017 will be a Gala Dinner at Travelodge. Team officials are due to address a press conference on Tuesday to discuss the celebrations and the team’s plan for the 2017/18 season. The Golden Jubilee celebrations come at a time when Moya Goleele management is working hard to get the team back to its glory days. GU have struggled in the past seasons to get any silverware. The last time the team won something was the 2015 Mascom Top 8 trophy. The team, however, looks set to revive their glory days this season. They finished on position 5 last season and will now be looking to improve on the standing in the coming season. This has been also evident on their signings during the transfer window. Moya Goleele brought in 14 new players in an effort to bolster their squad for the coming season. The new players who will be unveiled on Tuesday including among them Dirang Moloi, Arnold Mampori and Thatayaone Kgamanyane. Four U-20 players have also been promoted into the senior team. The players have been groomed at the team’s developmental side.
