Botswana Darts Association (BDA) national youth team recently won 10 medals and trophies at the Region 5 Youth Darts Championships in Germiston, South Africa. However, despite their huge achievement the team feels unappreciated. Darts is one of those struggling codes in the country which sometimes seem forgotten. The team that went to South Africa comprised of under-15 athletes and under-18 athletes who all performed incredibly well in the doubles, team games, and even the singles. The local team was 1st runner up with Zimbabwe crowned winners of the tournament. Spokesperson for the Darts Neo Badubi said their wish is to be given the recognition befitting heroes in a manner that is always given to other athletes from different codes. Badubi said that can go a long way in encouraging their athletes to work even harder and understand that as Darts athletes they are held at the same esteem with any other athlete in the country. They urged the journalists to also help contribute in spearheading the recognition of Darts in the country just as they have done with other codes. Badubi said they are committed to making sure that they succeed because they have so much potential. Meanwhile, Badubi was elected the Region 5 Secretary General.
