The International Working Group (IWG) has continued with their mandate of making sure that they get as many signatories before the 2018 conference as possible. The latest mass signing was done by World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) President Riccardo Fraccari and delegates to the code’s summit in Gaborone. “We promote many activities for the inclusion of females in sport and we try to encourage them to play and when we make developments we also make sure that we have them and their interests on board,” he said. Fraccari said they also engage in mixed games in order to show that women can also do whatever men are capable of. He said this can also be seen by the representation of women in their committees because it is extensively high. IWG Deputy Chairperson Ruth Maphorisa, who was available for the signing, said their aim is to have 690 signatories by the date of the conference next year. She said there is positivity in that and they hope by next year they will have a great number having signed as signatories.
